pardon my French

Fic of the Day: Watchmen

I stayed up to watch Craig Ferguson because tomorrow is Inuit Day and thanks to my own Queen-among-Women Mother, we have the day off! (Mom was on the Calendar Committee) Usually I only get to watch Craig on Fridays, so color me tickled. And! He did a puppet thing with a French snail named Josh. I love the puppets. I cackle every time Wavey waves at me. And Josh's cute little Scottish-French accent only made the fact that they substituted 'ooh-la-la!" for the usual bleep that much funnier.

And since it was after midnight, I went ahead and did a [info]31_days fill. I probably shouldn't write this late at night so I'll go to bed now and try not to dream of hypnotic snails.

Fic of the Day: Original The Biker story. I really need a name for it. He meets one of his fellow boarders under unusual circumstances.

And a bit of Ick for you. The two cats? They filled up the litterbox. In a NIGHT. I cleaned the box out and went to bed and next day, the cats were sprawled out in their usual lazy puddles.

“Ah,” they seemed to say. “Excellent. You’re awake. We have a little job for you, when you have a moment.”

My nose was way ahead of them.

“Phew!” I said. “Y’all sure are stinky today. I’ll just-WHAAAH!”

There wasn’t any loose litter in the box and two little happenings outside the box. No way just two cats could produce that much in just one night. I think they threw a party and didn’t tell me.

For [info]31_days. It's a short one, and kind of sad, but I wanted to get back into the swing of it. I don't think I wrote for [info]31_daysat all last month, I had so much else to do. But Daylight Savings Time completely slipped my mind so I have an extra hour.

It's the morning after Halloween, and my email is full of Christmas shopping notices. They don't waste a minute, do they?

I wrote something that didn't have Watchmen or werewolves in it! I'm not bragging, it's just a novelty these days. Spirited Away fic over at [info]31_days.

It only took a YEAR and four months, but a new chapter of Blood Ties is up! I suck. I know. And normally, I wouldn't broadcast it to the world at large, but after a full 16 months of nothing and then staying up past my bedtime, I think I'm allowed some loud announcements.

First one in a month and written with no shift key. Trying to get back in the swing of things. Maybe I'll even draw something before long.

I really need to think of a title for this story. It's not really 'The Biker story' even though he's the one I keep writing about. He only gets some mention this time.

Fic of the Day: Watchmen

All I really want is to eat a whole lot and then go to sleep. I've already eaten more than is technically required to keep me coherent and non-ravenous until morning. It was a nerve-wracking crazy day with the munchkins. As far as I can tell they've all been exposed to that X-Files gas/spore that ramps up all the agression and makes them turn on each other like baby hyenas. They fought all frickin' day! Tears and screams and spit and mucus and it's another Wednesday in D-Wing. Grr. It makes me cranky too. And hungry.

Ack.
I went to a goodbye party for some friends tonight and ended up taking a shot of peppermint schnapps for the farewell toast. Like a chug of Listerine! Bleah. [info]huntsman_77 tells me it's nice in hot chocolate, but in shot form, reminds me of a poor dental hygiene decision. Yuck.

Aww.

Fic of the Day:Spirited Away

I got a sweet compliment from one of my K4s. We were drawing pictures of ourselves at playtime and since I have sort of a dishwater blondish-mostly brown hair (with some white strands since I started working with children...) I was coloring my picture with brown and yellow. One of the girls looked over my shoulder and said "That's not what your hair looks like."

"Oh yeah?" I said. "What color do you think it is?"

"It's gold," she said. "Like God's treasure."

I admit to being flattered. My hair appears as different colors to different people, but it's been awhile since someone mentioned it. And a compliment from a child is a rare thing. One that doesn't involve how much bigger I am than them, anyway.

Fic of the Day: Original

Second day of dragging myself out of bed. I don't know why I'm so tired. I've only had a half week to deal with instead of the whole week everybody else at work has. But I'm still slipping off into the stares even while I sit here. I can sleep in tomorrow though. If I get everything done tonight that I didn't finish last night.

I got to pick prompts for next month at [info]31_days! I really don't know if they're of interest to anyone but me, but it was fun to go through the list and pick out ones that I thought evoked the most imagery. Here if you're interested.

Fic of the Day: Coraline

I wrote this one awhile back when I was feeling Coraliney and then almost forgot to post it. It wouldn't have been a huge deal I guess...I could've waited until Amnesty Day which isn't too far off, but I have a feeling I'll be busy that day, frothing at the mouth at not being near a theater when Wolverine Origins comes out.

It may require another trip out. Yes. It may. In May!

Fic of the Day: 30 Days of Night

I stepped on my own woolly socks in the dark last night and about scared myself silly. How pathetic is that? In my defense, I do live with cats that try to kill me by getting under my feet on the stairs and also like to leave dismembered baby bunnies for me to step on (see an earlier entry for that trauma), and I have been finding severed animal parts outside, but stepping barefooted into unexpected fuzziness shouldn't cause a "WUH-Auuuuugh!" in the middle of the night.

Then again, the neighbors deserve it for their midnight furniture rearranging.
